CLASHING PRINTS AND CONFIDENCE

Clashing your prints together has been a key trend for the past few seasons, but I just didn't have the confidence. I thought it looked great on everyone else, but when I tried it, it looked like I fired my entire wardrobe at myself with a cannon and just wore what stuck. Frankly a mess, but probably all in my head and more to do with my own feelings of self confidence. The whole reason I started the blog in the first place was to increase my confidence, because I felt I was really losing myself after my long battle with mental illness.

But thanks to my blogger chums, particularly the lovely Sophie from So Inspo, I've learned that if you want to try something, you should just do it. Even if it just a small thing, it is still a little victory that will boost your confidence so you can try the next slightly bigger thing. Who know what you can achieve if you keep at it.

So when I saw an amazing floral print faux leather biker jacket from QED London in TK Maxx, I knew I had to take it home with me to clash with my other prints. I decided to mix it with some nautical stripes in a smock dress I picked up in the USC sale for just £4 online...not to shabby.

So if there is somethin you really want to do, get out there and do it. Or build yourself up so you feel like there is nothing you can't achieve. I have a long way to go with my self confidence journey, but it is all a great adventure.

Where do you find your confidence?

  1. You look SO good in this outfit. Confidence is still something I lack, but I try not to think about things any more and just do it and analyse it later haha xx

  2. Aww Gems what a lovely post! You look absolutely gorgeous in your dress; stripes are such a style staple, and you rock them oh so well! Parisian chic at its very finest :) I also think the dress compliments your beautiful dark locks/ombre combo, and vice versa. The jacket is so unique and dreamy and the risk of being brave and going for it has more than paid off; it really is such a pretty, striking look on you! Love, love, LOVE!

I'm so touched that you mentioned me and that I make you feel that way, it really makes me so, so happy :) Thank you so much! You really do continue to inspire and amaze me; look at what you've overcome and conquered, and to not only conquer but come back a million times stronger with determination and strength just takes the meaning of courageous to the next level. So proud of you and I so hope we can meet someday soon! <3

  8. I'm not one for clashing prints BUT florals and stripes are the exception. They do look great together and the dress and jacket styles look good together.

As far as confidence goes I think you just have to go for it. The first time I blogged a bikini photo of myself it took about a week to publish. Now I have a partially nude photo every other post. Not quit true but it's not an issue for me.

  9. Dealing with mental illness is exhausting, sometimes liberating, sometimes depressing, this is the main reason I don't give a rat's ass what I wear, do or say. I do what makes me happy, dress with fugly clothes, pretty clothes, whatever, life is too short for bullshit. And Gems, you look spectacular in here, I love your hair *_*

  10. clashing print may not work with everything but stripes and florals just have a way of always making it work. Such a cute outfit and loving how you belted the dress. So in love with the jacket too!!

  11. I never think I can pull off clashing but it looks fab on other people. I love how you have created your outfit. I have always lacked confidence but I find I feel most confident in dresses especially shorter dresses I think because the one thing I do like about myself is my legs x

  12. I’m pleased you decided to try this because pattern mixing is the best. I love it. You created this look perfectly and I especially like these two particular patterns together.
