MANICURE MONDAY 05

BUDGET EDITION

Anyone who knows me will know that I get the most pleasure out of the simple things in life - a cup of tea, a good book, and five minutes to myself to paint my nails. By the way, the used book addiction has got seriously out of hand...I promised myself I wouldn't buy any more, and then I bought nine more...it's a good job I don't have much of a life and therrefore have plenty of time to read them. I have already started 'The Farm' by Tom Rob Smith, and it is quite the page turner. I almost sacraficed my Sunday nap for it...I didn't obviously.

So, when it comes to painting my nails, I have been favoring metallic shades recently and Poundland, have a surprisingly large collection of nail varnishes, and some gorgeous colours. This rose gold shade caught my eye and it is a great little polish for the price. Two coats is all that is needed, and it dries super quick, as well as being pretty resisstant to chipping, which is useful for a clutz like me.

Another line of nail polishes I have been impressed with, is from Kiki Cosmetics,They have a great range for just £2.50, including this delightful mermaid shade, that survived an afternoon of decorating. I will definitely be adding more to my collection, or recieving them gratefully as Christmas gifts...hint, hint!

PSYCHEDELIC '60S

I'm seriously crushing on anything neon at the minute, yes it washes out my skin terribly and perhaps looks like a 90's rave has thrown up on me, but I can't walk past anything that is brighter than the sun. I want people to struggle to hear me over the loudness of my clothes - so when I clocked this popping 60's style shift dress in Primark I skipped to the till, without trying it on - I didn't want to talk myself out of it and it was only £13.

So when the sun was shining and the mood was good I decided to pop it on for a day shopping in town with the mother. That was when I realised how insanely short it is, there can be no bending over, and no lifting the arms up, otherwise its indecency hour - thank God I was wearing tights!  Still it doesn't put me off at all.

For maximum clashing I went for some funky press on nails by Elegant Touch, I'm amazed by these neon swirl nails that were featured at London Fashion Week - and if an idiot like me can apply them, anyone can. You just peel off the sticky backing and press onto your prepared nails and voila, gorgeous nails without battling with nail varnish, I am a total convert.

SPACE NAILS

Sorry for a little bit of an absence over the last week, I have just been absolutely snowed under with work and things to do, I haven't had any spare time to sit down and blog, which sucks. That is one of the hard things about being a freelancer, if you don't work, you don't get paid, so you don't get a lot of time to yourself. On the other hand, it does make you more appreciative of your evenings relaxing and long Sunday afternoon snoozes (no one can snooze like me).

So with some of my precious time to myself, I decided to mess about with my nails and try a little something different. Inspired by Channel $'s recent 'Space' season (how amazing was the live lap around the planet, courtesy of the International Space Station), I went for sparkly black and silver together. The pictures were taking after I removed the nail varnish from all over my hand...seriously it was everywhere, I'm the twitchiest, shakiest person I know.

So If you haven't already guessed, I'm a total space nerd, what brings out you're inner nerd?

GETTING NAILED

Hey guys, sorry I have been such a terrible blogger recently, I have been right down in the dumps with the whole blogging thing recently. Since I spend all day working making other fashion blogs a success, coming back to mine on a night time in my spare time seems almost unfair. Hopefully this is a sign that I will be getting my mojo back.

Anyway starting of my return it's a quick post to celebrate how awesome Primark's stick on nails are. I bought a couple of sets to put in my little sister's birthday present a few weeks ago and thought at just £1 (yes that's right the same price as a McFlurry) I may as well try out some for myself.

I was amazed at how easy they were to apply, just a bit glue to the nail, press for 5 seconds and voila, gorgeous nails. The look seriously good too, and since manicures are so ridiculously expensive I think I will be popping to Primarni when I need some nails for a special occasion.

I trimmed the nails down a little bit after this pic was taken as I like shorter nails, but all that took was some nail clippers and they still looked amazing.

So have any of you tried any Primark cosmetics?

NAILS OF THE WEEK

So most of us here in the UK are still waiting for a sunny day that looks unlikely ever to arrive, so probably like a lot of you out there, when I have some free time I can't be bothered to go anywhere - just not feeling the drowned rat look any more. So to stave off boredom (I refuse to read the Shades of Grey books) I have been painting my nails a lot more often - I've never had nails so good, too bad the weather is too bad to go out and show them off, by giving the jazz hands like a mad woman. So anyway I thought I may as well share the changes with you...

No. 7 Poolside Blue and Gold by Giles Light Blue (via New Look)

Rimmel Grey Matter and H&M Jo is in the House

Miss Sporty Sparkle and Pixi No. 4

I currently have Red Carpet Red nails, courtesy of Rimmel as it is was date night last night, just a few lovely hours eating nice food and being away from our computers, which we are both permanently stuck to for work. It was fab!

I think the grey nails are my favourite - so very me and they match all the items in my wardrobe - i really do need more colour in my life.  What are your faves?

How have you guys been keeping the boredom at bay on the rainy days?
