LEGS OF A LEOPARD

A few months ago, I left my camera at a jewellery event and have only just got it back. There was several outfit posts stored on the memory card so I am delighted to have it back, especially since so many of the pictures I have taken recenlty have been so heinous. I don't know what happens to my face, it just goes into automatic goofy mode as soon as the camera flashes. Teeth out, gormless expression and camera flash - it causes much amusement to my boyfriend!

Anyway, sorry I have been a poor blogger this week, I have been watching quite a bit of the Commonwealth Games and I have to say the coverage has been dreadful. The sports are great, so why is there so much talking? There is several sports going on at anyone time, I should never have to be bored by dreadful discussions about a race or match I have just watched, or a yawn-inducing explanation on how the medals were made.

When it gets too much, Netflix comes to my rescue - I'm all about this new anime show called 'Knights of Sidonia'. Like most anime it is the weirdest thing ever and totally compelling - humans photosynthesise, some don't have a gender and there are crazy monsters (obviously) all over space.

So back to the clothes, I bought this skirt a few months ago in H&M for just £5.99, bargain right? It is mostly sheer, but with a little modesty skirt underneath. I didn't have the confidence to wear it with bare legs as they look rather awful, and God that shaving thing is annoying isnt it? So I teamed it with some subtle leopard print tights, my favourite vest and some spiked boots.

REAL WOMAN?

This week I have been thinking a lot about the real woman debate. When a woman has curves she tend to be defined as a 'real woman', so what does that make a woman like me, someone who has the curves of a chopstick. Although I have a fairly rounded bum, that really didn't develop until my twenties, when I got lazy. Until then I had a very small boyish frame, and even now that I am 30, i feel more like a girl than a woman.

I understand that modern media does seem to set a lot of unattainable ideals of beauty onto young girls and that is not fair. But, is it equally fair to deem someone like me who has a small frame a 'twig', in a way, isn't that just as harmful, I would love to have curves, but it something that it an unrealistic idea of beauty for me to attain.

I'm sure plenty of people will be rolling their eyes and saying 'Oh it must be so hard for you' in their most sarcastic of tones, but when your being told left right and center that your not a real woman and that 'bones are for dogs', it can give you a negative body image if you are naturally thin. Thin or curvy, should not be the criteria for what defines a real woman...I'm just as real as you...I think!

DYO FABULOUS JEWELLERY WIN

How pleased was I when I won the first competition help by new jewellery brand DYO Fabulous Jewellery, in which I received an item of my choice from their amazing selection. I chose the Raw Peacock Ore Ring, because I just loved the rainbow of sparkles when it catches the light, its over-the-top size and the fact that it is adjustable to fit my skinny fingers.

The ring was sent out in a super cute pink pouch to protect is and with a lovely note from the team, congratulating me on my win...how sweet it that? I'm so looking forward to wearing the ring from this exciting new brand, I think it will look amazing with my little tartan dress.

Apologies for my old lady hands, but isn't it gorgeous!? I'm so excited for the next stage of the brand launch which will be a 'Design Your Own' section, where you can create a totally bespoke jewellery pieces, of your own design, using semi-precious stones and fashion elements. I will be sure to keep you posted, but you can keep up to date with all the DYO Fabulous Jewellery news on their official Facebook Page.

What is your favourite jewellery piece of the moment?
